Latest Update & Thy KIngdom Come Details - 13th May

13 May 2020 11:38

From Jon and the Trinity Team

Former Archbishop of Canterbury, William Temple once said to his critics who regarded answered prayer as no more than coincidence, 'When I pray, coincidences happen; when I don’t, they don’t.'

Personally, I find prayer a bit mysterious and feel as though I have a lot to learn but what I have discovered over the years is that when I pray God often works for good in me and in others. When I pray coincidences happen and when I don't, they don't!

The current Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby is encouraging Christians all over the world to pray between Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday for more people to come to know Jesus. This initiative is called Thy Kingdom Come. Our plan as a church was to engage fully in this initiative and a good number of us received some training in February to help us in that! However, plans have changed and we are still encouraging Trinity over these 10 days to engage but in a slightly different way!

Thy Kingdom Come 2020 at Trinity

Thy Kingdom Come is a global wave of prayer calling all Christians to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ.  Over 90% of countries in the world are involved and the dates this year are 21st May to 31st May.  This wave of prayer involves individuals, families and local churches.  Please click here to look at the website.

Below are a few ways in which you can get involved with Thy Kingdom Come this year:

The TKC Prayer Journal - you can either download a prayer journal here or pick up a copy from Trinity (a box of free journals will be outside of the Centre blue door on Friday and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week between 9am and 2pm - please help yourself). The Prayer Journal includes a daily reading, a reflection, prayer and an action.

24 hours of prayer - we have set up a virtual prayer room between midday on Wednesday 27th May to midday on Thursday 28th May to pray for the Church, the world and to thank God for His goodness - sign up for a 1/2 hour slot or more here and resources will be sent to you nearer the time.

Ideas for families to get involved - click here for more details and Emma will also be highlighting on social media ways in which families can pray during Thy Kingdom Come including the interactive digital prayer map!
