Fashion for Freedom

07 February 2020 11:35

Our second Fashion for Freedom Event will be held at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday 14 March. We shall be showcasing the wonderful world of sustainable fashion in a show curated by the fabulous Kay Davidson, and celebrating the families who now live in freedom. It will be a real celebration filled with colour and light!

Come and enjoy the show, a meal in the company of friends, while learning about sustainable fashion and picking up some sneaky tips. There will also be an opportunity to shop the clothing sale rails at the end of the evening. All proceeds will go to the ongoing work in the villages in northern India. We would be so delighted if you and your family and friends could join us. Doors open at 6.30 p.m. for 7 p.m. start with a welcome and a meal (which aptly includes a curry option).

For our friends who would just like to see the fashion show and peruse the sale rails without joining us for meal, balcony tickets will be available at £5 per person (£2 for students) with doors opening at 7.45 p.m.

What next:-

If you would like to reserve a balcony ticket (£5 per person) or a table (for six or for eight people) (£35 per person) please email OneIslandOneVillage@gmail.com expressing your interest and we will be in touch with you over the finer details. We encourage you to get in contact with us as soon as possible. We have limited numbers of tables and spaces and anticipate a high level of interest.

However, if you can think of nothing worse than going to a fashion show, but you would like to support the work - especially if you have not had a chance to do so already - we will be re-launching our buy a bookmark campaign which allows you to buy a solar light, or stationery for a child for a year, or hot meals for a week, or pay a community worker or teacher’s wage. Please feel free to contact us about that.

Interested in helping out?…

The team is looking for models of all ages and sizes, and for help with hair and make-up. Please email Jenette directly if you, a friend or a family member are interested in getting involved and she will put you in touch with the team member who can tell you the full details before any commitment.

And finally - Abolitionist Guernsey is changing its name, transforming into Guernsey for Freedom - watch the usual spaces in the newspaper and on social media in the next few weeks as we roll out the re-brand.
