A Rocha UK - Caring for God's Good Creation

17 January 2020 10:25

A Rocha Eco Church Events in Guernsey!

On Saturday February 29th there are two events taking place in Guernsey for the whole church as to how we can care for God’s earth. Martin Hudson and Simon Brown from A Rocha UK will be in Guernsey and leading and speaking at the following events:

- Eco Church Workshop - Saturday 29th February 9.15am for coffee until 12.30pm at Trinity, St Peter Port.
Eco Church is an A Rocha UK project, run in partnership with Christian Aid, The Church of England, The Methodist Church and Tearfund. It is a new phase of the earlier Eco-congregation scheme run by A Rocha UK.
Eco Church focuses on five key areas: worship and teaching; buildings; land; engagement with the local community and in global campaigns; and personal lifestyles of the congregation.
Using a website, you can assess your church in these areas and work to improve them to gain a bronze, silver or gold award. The scheme is designed to enable a church to integrate care for God's creation into its regular life and to engage in mission more effectively. So far nearly 2000 churches have signed up in England and Wales.
The morning will look briefly at some of the global environmental problems and the Biblical basis of Creation Care. We will then look at the mechanics of the Eco Church scheme and consider each of the five areas covered by the scheme and how the Eco Church project can be run in your own church. There will be some group work and plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
To book a place please contact Cynthia (Trinity Manager) by Tuesday 25th February at the latest. Contact Cynthia on t: 724319 or e:
